Importance of Cleaning Services
Cleaning services are important for aesthetics as well as health and hygiene in both domestic and commercial situations. The work of cleaning services is mostly routine and completed indoors, though it can periodically involve one-off jobs (e.g. cleaning up after an event) and outdoor work.
Different types of cleaning require different tools and products. Supermarket cleans may include floor polishing and rotary cleaning machines (or rotaries) may be rented, owned by the establishment, or owned by the cleaner/cleaning company. Buildings incorporating biophilic landscape practices (those which include plants and natural construction materials) may need to be cleaned with organic-only products, while day-care centres are likely to need cleaning products that meet departmental requirements for both efficacy and low toxicity.
Routine cleaning is undertaken by professional cleaners, who are devoted 100% to cleaning, as well as other workers who may need to do some cleaning as part of another job role.
Routine or One off Jobs
Cleaning Work can involve ongoing, regular work (at one or more properties); or it may be one off jobs, for example:
- Cleaning up after a pest infestation e.g. dead animals in a wall or roof cavity
- Cleaning a toxic spill, inside or outdoors
- Cleaning after a natural disaster e.g. after a flood, cyclone, or other event
- Seasonal cleaning e.g. mould after a period of high humidity
- Crime scene cleaning
- Bond cleans following a period of tenancy in a building
- Cleaning up after an event e.g. sports match, concert, wedding
Each of these are one-off cleans, and may not always be in demand. As such, some companies will offer several types of one-off clean so that they have sufficient work. Some may specialise in a particular type of one-ff clean to try and corner the market. This is especially common with the bond clean.
