This course helps you understand how to minimize the risk of loss and disruption that can come when accidents, injury or illness interrupts the smooth running of a business or any other workplace.

Work related fatalities, injuries and diseases are a huge cost to the economy in virtually every country of the world. The personal, social and economic impact of injuries and health problems in the workplace are a serious concern. Attention to these matters is a responsibility for not only management, but for everyone who works in or visits a workplace.

  • Identify procedures for the safe use of chemicals in the workplace.
  • Identify procedures for the safe use of equipment, including tools and machinery, in the workplace.
  • Identify procedures for the safe manual handling of objects in the workplace.
  • Develop workplace health and safety rules and practices, for a specified workplace.
  • Identify standard signs and hand signals used in workplace health and safety in Australia.
